Last night I was helping Clinton study for today’s English test. Fortunately, Eighth Grade English, as a second language, is still within my grammatical reach. I started sweating at first, expecting him to ask me what type of words a, or the, or of are. I have no clue. Fortunately it was merely nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and abstract nouns. Abstract nouns are weird though. And then I realized, the English language is more weird! It is like a big abstract noun to those coming at it from a second language perspective; it’s a thing, but it’s an intangible concept.
