Kola Boof, who is an actual victim of genital mutilation

I can’t find any evidence that Kola Boof was ever in the Sudan, which is where she claims to have undergone female genital mutilation. Even her name is made up. As a resident of South Africa, you should know that she recently made laughably ridiculous claims that Jacob Zuma repeatedly called her unlisted number to try to hire her to have sex with him. Check out this story in City Press, which calls her “just another attention-seeking cyber-psycho.”

It’s shame that a crazy self-promoter like Boof tries to attach herself to issues that deserve serious treatment.

(I visited Sweden late last year and saw Makode Linde’s golliwog faces peering down from posters and hoardings everywhere. A constant, jeering reminder as discomfiting to me, a black visitor, as it was to the oh-so-polite Swedes around me)

This macrabre display would not not even happen ( least of all with the cackling participation of a Western European head of state) if German or Muslim artists baked a batch of emaciated ginger bread men in an oven to bring attention to the Holocaust. No one who defends this “painful cake” art would even dare try to justify it, for any reason whatsoever, regardless of intention, so let’s not kid ourselves regarding what this is really about.
